The film is an authentic story that perfectly captures coming of age in today’s digital world. Starting a new year of high school, Lola (Cyrus), (or Lol, as her friends call her), works to find the right balance between family, school, friends and romance. Broken-hearted by her ex, Lol’s world is soon turned upside down when she is surprised to find her best friend, Kyle (Douglas Booth), a musician in an up and coming rock band, could possibly be the love of her life. In her quest towards independence, self-identity and young adulthood, Lol discovers that while Facebook status is easy to change, true relationships are worth the effort.

The film is directed by Lisa Azuelos, who also wrote and directed the original film. The screenplay is by Lisa Azuelos and Kamir Aïnouz, based on the film LOL (Laughing Out Loud) ®. Headlined by Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore, the film features a strong ensemble cast including Ashley Greene, Golden Globe nominated actor Thomas Jane, Jay Hernandez, Hollywood legend Marlo Thomas, Nora Dunn, Gina Gershon, Fisher Stevens and Austin Nichols. The cast also includes Douglas Booth, Adam Sevani, George Finn and Ashley Hinshaw, along with newcomers Lina Esco and Tanz Watson. It's produced by Academy Award-nominated Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Feature Films (Erin Brockovich, Best Picture, 2000) and Tish Cyrus (The Last Song). Executive producers are Nathan Kahane, Jerome Seydoux, Romain Le Grand and Lisa Azuelos, with Nicole Brown of Mandate Pictures and Kelli Konop, Taylor Latham, and James Powers of Double Feature Films co-producing.
